Post-MEPC79 assessment: The regulatory impact on ships in-service and on order
This webinar is no longer available.
ABOUT THIS WEBINAR
The decisions and amendments made at the 79th session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 79) have paved the way for clearer and more ambitious targets. Meanwhile, the IMO continues to expand its approach to address a broader range of environmental issues. The new Mediterranean Sulphur Emission Control Area (SECA), for example, is a significant milestone in the fight against air pollution.
With carbon indices coming into effect in January 2023, the deadline for compliance is rapidly approaching. But with multiple avenues available, choosing the most efficient – and compliant – alternative fuel can be challenging. While biofuels may be the best solution for existing ships, LNG and methanol are growing in popularity for newbuilds.
AGENDA
A summary of key outcomes from MEPC 79
How CII ratings have evolved in recent years
How biofuels potential as a means of decarbonization could be realized under current regulations
